Description

This shot was taken in January in my grandparents' village, a very picturesque location, close to the mountains. Unfortunately, there wasn't much snow around, but I liked the crooked cross on the right and the illusion of a mountain of endless crosses created by the tall firtress in the back. It's not really my style of photography - I like warm, colourful landscapes, but I was curious about what you guys would think of this one.
So, here goes nothing! :)

nice capture..... I like it,
but I think if you would have cropped it a little from the bottom and incrased a little in the top, it could have more impact.
Being angled, the croos tends to pull and direct my eye towards the top.
I am not sure though which one wil be better. It is anyways a good shot.

interessting composition, especially like the tombstone on the right side which is on the verge of collapsing, it brings a certain tension into this one... nice ;)

Great dof and very nice composition...the "near far" aproach works very well!
Good work Ana!

That's really good! The crooked cross on the right is the focus of the whole picture, i love the asymmetry too.

As someone mentioned earlier, this photo leaves me wanting to see a little more of the tombstones :), but other than that I really like this capture!

Beautiful place and especially the element from the graveyard adds to the composition.

I really love this shot, I disagree with cropping the bottom. I would even love to see just a tiny bit more of the crosses. Though just my taste. the photo is wonderful as is. I really love the cross on the right leaning into the image.

personaly i would have liked to see this otherwise completely freaking beautiful shot from another angle. the slab of slate ( stone ? or what ? ) leaning in and even making an even line with the last "definition line" is brutal. Otherwise its beautiful and a wonderful image :) <3

edit : spelling corrected - iom a freakin gimp when it comes to spelling :(

Overall a nice shot; powerful mood. I'm not sure about the way the image is cropped at the bottom; I think the overall composition would be improved if more of the gravestones were included. Anyway, good work.

IMO, the crooked cross is what makes this photo! Nice work! :)

An interesting scene. It is always difficult to suggest alternate crops as one never knows what is just outside the frame. I would however crop some of the sky and have tried to somehow get a better angle on the leaning cross as it's such an important element in the photo. Nice work!

The composition is what makes this shot very interesting :)

Avatar DreamShadow

 04/02/06 @520

thanks u guys for all the comments and the suggested alternatives to improve the shot :p... well, like Gary said, it's difficult to please everyone when it comes to the composition....i guess i just wanted to emphasize the top of the crosses to make the connection with the mountain in the back...the only thing i kinda regret is the fact that there wasn't enough snow that day i might just go back there some other day and take some more shots
@ ilinca :p the village is Rasinari - near Sibiu... awesome location by the way :p

Obviously not much I can add to what's already been said. I like the picture although weather like this is exactly what's driving me crazy here at the moment! The only thing I miss from it is seeing the crosses from the front as well (or in another shot of course). But perhaps the mountains would then be totally different and the point would be lost.
